Have you seen it?

Most people who start a movie finish it. Say yes and every scene opens. Not yet? You get the setup and nothing past it.

This is the 2026 Paramount+ movie, set about ten years after the war. Everyone’s grown up, and Aang is still the last airbender.

Ten years on

Still the last one

Aang is an adult, Zuko is Fire Lord, and Aang still collects Air Nomad relics. A group of non-benders called the Denied steals one, and it points to a lost Avatar's staff.

By now Zuko is Fire Lord and Aang has helped found Republic City. Katara, Sokka and Toph are grown up too. Aang still collects Air Nomad relics, and he’s still not over running away the night his people were wiped out.

Then a group of non-benders who call themselves the Denied, sick of being pushed around by benders, attacks him and steals one of those relics. It’s linked to Sonam, a long-forgotten Air Avatar who vanished along with a staff that could give airbending to anyone. So Aang goes looking for it.

Tagah

Another airbender

Aang finds Tagah, an airbender who's been frozen in ice for centuries, and the old team helps hunt for Sonam's staff. Katara has doubts about Tagah.

Sonam was last seen on a mountain, and that’s where Aang finds a man frozen in ice. Once he’s free, it turns out he’s Tagah, an airbender from long ago who got his bending from Sonam herself. For the first time in years, Aang isn’t the only one.

With Tagah tagging along, Aang brings the old team back together and they cross a rough sea to islands that used to be lion turtles, where the staff is hidden. Aang is so glad to have another airbender around that he misses what Katara picks up on. Something about Tagah is off.

Tagah

The staff

Tagah's plan

Tagah wants revenge on everyone who hurt the Air Nomads. He uses the staff to give the Denied airbending and attacks Republic City.

And Katara’s right. Tagah wants revenge on everyone who ever hurt his people, and once they find the staff he turns on the others. He holds his own against Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko at once.

The staff lets him hand out airbending, so he gives it to the Denied, turns them into his army and attacks Republic City.

The ending

Keeping the culture alive

Aang beats Tagah, nearly gives in to his own anger, and destroys the staff. Tagah fades away. Aang starts the Air Acolytes and a new temple instead.

Aang wins and gets the staff away from Tagah, and for a moment he wants to kill him. Instead he breaks the staff. That takes the airbending away from the Denied, and since the staff was the only thing keeping Tagah alive, he fades away.

He can’t bring the airbenders back, and he accepts that. What he can do is keep their way of life going, so he starts a new temple on an island off Republic City, with Air Acolytes to carry on the teachings. The last scene has him finding a hidden herd of sky bison.
